Whilst I think there’s truth behind there being a disconnect behind the scenes for Under Armour and sneaker culture, I also think the reality is Curry could never sell cool. He’s a respectable player of course, and changed the game in his own regards but he’s never really been the “cool” guy. So that’s poor choice on Under Armours side. Curry is a great option for making sells and consistently but if you want a “cash cow” which let’s face it a lot of these brands want… he wasn’t the guy to do it. Anthony Edwards is the perfect example of someone who can sell cool. I don’t know what sales have been like for his signature shoe but I know anytime an AE ad drops, there’s chatter. And his signature shoes aren’t the most stylish of the bunch but because he can sell cool, it works. Great read nonetheless!
The sheep will buy anything that they are told. In ten years the “Chef” will be a billion dollar business because some clown TikTok (er) video goes viral with a pair of those on their feet. If the “Croc”, “Air Force Ones” or “Yeezy’s” can be as popular as they are any shoe or anything for that matter can be a billion dollar item with the right amount or type of influence. So it wasn’t the shoe there are plenty of horrendous shoes that are insanely popular it was their marketing strategy. Put the “Chef’s” on a big butt cutie dancing around in yoga pants on Instagram or the right rapper and boom they’ll be sold out everywhere.
Plank should grab Trump and release Orange Juice 101s (OJ101s). Trump will be a free agent soon from his day job, and if everyone is lucky, he will go to prison. UA can exploit that as proof Trump has street cred and his game uniform will be orange (Netflix series for inspo). Everybody wins. I'm a genius.

If you can’t sell Steph Curry shoes, I am not sure you can be a shoe company. His shoes always cheaply made and boring.
