The first LeBron retro ever released, we launched at StockX in partnership with Nike and the Cavs. I think about the Air Zoom Generation more than I should, which is probably why it landed in a funny way when Anthony Edwards pulled one out of a bag in an adidas ad. That series started in October 2023, with Edwards going through rival signature shoes, including LeBron’s Air Zoom Generation and LaMelo Ball’s Puma MB.02, according to Complex.
Three years later, the bag is gone and the conversation has gotten louder.
On his podcast on October 13, LeBron said he didn’t watch the latest adidas spot because he doesn’t watch anything from the stripes, and that Edwards “just read off the teleprompter,” per AOL’s write-up of the comments. Twelve days later, adidas posted a reply. Hasan Minhaj debuted as Edwards’ “official insider” in Minnatlantasota, the sketch series adidas says will run through the 2026-27 season, and his answer to LeBron was that Nike’s stock price says otherwise.
